Description

After more than 25 years teaching music, CTC is my #1, go-to, favorite method for teaching, learning and practicing rhythm.

Download Includes: Instructor Notes and 9 Sample Rhythm/Coordination Pages.

Total: 11 pages.

Each CTC “Rhythm Page” focuses on a specific rhythm pattern as well as subdivisions of that rhythm.

From one line to the next, one can clearly see and feel how a rhythm pattern is “constructed”, one step at a time.  These pages are suitable for students learning to read music as well as anyone needing to “fill in the gaps” of his or her understanding of subdivision and reading rhythm.  Plus, they are just fun to practice.

Note: On many of the “Rhythm Pages,” at the end of each line, there is a long note and/or a rest.  This time can be used in a variety of ways:

1 – to practice the elusive skill of counting long notes and rests.

2 – to recover from possible/inevitable failure of counting, tapping or clapping.

3 – when working with a student or ensemble, to provide instruction or redirection.

Each CTC “Coordination Page” offers an additional, more nuanced rhythmic challenge when one already understands the rhythms on a particular page.  Each line is marked with a repeat sign.  Practice each line “over-and-over” to develop rhythmic finesse and ease.  Our goal is to read rhythms effortlessly with a feeling of pulse and subdivision.

Note:  The Simple Meter Basic Rhythm and Coordination Pages include all the required rhythms for Texas UIL Sightreading, levels 1-3.

Happy Practicing!
